Note:

Current controller, blue and brown wires are not included if power supply option is added. 

If using the current controller you will need a DC power source to power the process.

You will also need distilledor deionised water to make up the electrolyte chemicals.

Our kits include two cleaning chemicals, Heavy Duty Alkaline Cleaner and an Acid Pickle. The GP1 Alkaline Cleaner can be used two ways: as a soak cleaner or an electrolytic cleaner. Using it as a soak cleaner, you would submerse you part in the solution to remove soils such as grease, oils and some types of rust preventetives. If using electrolytically, it can be used to remove rust and paint. Guides on how to do both are included in the kit. The acid pickle is also a cleaner but is vital to preparing the metal before plating. Submersing your item in the acid pickle slightly etches the surface, removing any oxides, giving a pristine surface ready for plating.

This kit contains chemicals that are classed as hazardous, so please check out over the safety data sheets and contact us if you have any questions. As the chemicals are hazardous, we use a specialist courier that is able to carry parcels that are labelled as LQ (limited quantity [hazardous]). When using this kit to apply a decorative, thin flash layer, make sure to have a polished surface of ideally bright nickel or replica chrome. This way, the plated layer will produce a high lustre gold colour.

 

When heavier plates are done, the brass deposits as a matte finish and will require polishing to achieve the best finish or can be lightly rubbed to give an antiqued finish.

 

This kit can be used to plate on top of base metals such as: brass, copper, nickel, replica chrome, steel, iron, stainless steel and lead castings.
